Mother’s Day In The UK

UK celebrates Mothers' Day today, the 31st of March. It's entirely different as to the date of the Philippines special day for mums. Happy Mother's day to me. Yey! As I walk towards the church earlier today, I had a lot of emotions carried with me on my way to attend the fourth Sunday of Lent. I felt happy because God gave me a chance to experience the way England celebrates this special day for us mums. More than ever grateful for this opportunity to get exposed to a different culture of warm and kindhearted people. How amazing is that?... Read More

Welcome To My Boredom

"Take a deep breath, hold it for two to three seconds then exhale." It's how I relax my tense self in facing pressures. Well, most of the time it works for me. Thanks Lord! I'm not sure what shall I do if that only technique I have would fail. Lol. Today is a weekend.( Happy dance) It means a free day for me, rest day, a RELAX time, whatever you call it. It's my favorite day. No work to think about. No English speaking day except for writing this post in English. My mouth is only dedicated to speak my... Read More

First Catholic Mass

One of the first questions I asked when I arrived here was the location of any Catholic churches nearby. Thankfully, in our first week of stay with our hospital accommodation provided by our employer, the St Anthony and Our Lady of Mercy's Catholic Church is situated next to our flat. How accessible is it to celebrate the holy mass! There's only one mass schedule during Sundays here in Hull unlike in the Philippines' hourly mass from five in the morning to as late as seven in the evening. You can still catch to attend the mass if you missed your... Read More

Shopping in Hull

Hello pretty mums. I've finished my duty at three in the afternoon which would mean I got enough time to update akynfullhouse. Yey, finally I can relax my tired body. That's quite a blessing to us working moms to have our ME time, isn't it? Let's talk about something we all ladies love to do. What do you think would be our discussion for today? I want to share you about my first shopping experience here in Hull. Pretty exciting topic, I know. One benefit of working in places away from the city centre of England is the fact that... The Hardest Part Of Leaving

It took me weeks before I can finally afford to write my own experience on how I managed to take a step away from my family on the day I was scheduled to leave my home country. It wasn't easy honestly. I would say it was one of the most terrible feeling of sadness I've ever felt in my entire life. It crushed my heart into pieces I got comments from people saying I must be part of the determined soul mothers who can leave their kids for the sake of my career development. I'm not even sure on how... Read More

What Blue Feels Like

I felt a bit blue earlier today while doing nothing at home. Have you gone through such down moment too? Maybe because I'm far from my family. ALONE for the very first time in my life. I'm having an adjustment crisis. It's not an easy road indeed to be an overseas worker. My schedule was free this morning. Hooray! The negative side of being idle is you don't have anything to make you busy. It became an opportunity then for me to realize I have nobody in my family to spend my free time with. Awful, isn't it? Reality sinked... Read More

Beauty Discovery

How's the weather today to where you at? I hope it's not freezing compared to where I am now. The locals claim the weather for the past few days were a bit milder compared to what they had last year during this season but still I find it too cold making my knees shake and my teeth clenched. I guess my body is still adjusting to my new environment. I got to buy new sets of thick clothes to warm me up. Let's just say this is the tropical Momma's adjustment period. Alright, I promised to do some beauty products... Read More
