Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, Baguio City

The first destination in our bucket list during our Baguio get-away was to visit the well known Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto to say thank you for the safe trip and to pray for a happy travel ahead. It is best to visit the place early in the morning when it’s cooler, for it’s going to take a long climb but definitely worth the effort.

It’s about 250 steps in going up to the statue of the Lady of Lourdes. It’s a form of exercise for us to climb up and a way of a religious sacrifice as well. It would really test your endurance and your knee strength but if you’re used to endure climbing several distances, then 250 steps is as easy as shooting fish in a barrel.

The pine trees plus the cool winds were just so relaxing that made me want to stay longer while enjoying the spectacular view of the city

Finally, we’ve reached the Grotto ?

A small chapel at the left part known as Kapilya Nina Hesus at Maria where you can say your prayers and give thanks. A solemn place to meditate.

In going down the Grotto, I saw this fruit tree bearing its fruits. I think it belongs to the citrus family type of plants. If I am not mistaken, I guess this is a Pomelo.

I’ve always been curious about the strawberry flavored Taho which was made of fresh soft tofu with tapioca pearls flavored with sweetener, but in Baguio they make use of Strawberry sweets instead. This comfort food was totally mouthwatering. I want to eat more of this.
