Thrifted Home Decors Upcycled

My left arm still feel sore after I had my second dose of my Covid Vaccine. It’s the only discomfort I felt after having the jab. Although I’m experiencing a little discomfort with my arm, I would still want this post to get done to share to my Akynfullhouse avid readers. Hope you’re all doing fine as well during this sunny Spring. Thank God Winter is finally over. We can enjoy the sunny weather whilst having fun outdoor.😂

This is me before having my vaccination yesterday. Solo bus rider.

What’s our lovely post for today? It’s one of my favorite topic to discuss. It’s all about doing DIY decorations. Most pretty Mommas do get excited to do this project, I think. 😀

After the national lockdown has been lifted, Akyn and I would love going to thrift stores to get some nice pieces of home decors after his class. One of our favorite store is the Doves House in Town. They were on sale last week for only 50p per three assorted items. We were both excited to visit the shop everyday.

Say hello to my most adorable shopping companion.

These were my first few finds on our first visit. It would have cost us more if we got this as brand new. They are just so cute, don’t you think?

I wanted to achieve a faux ceramics look with these cute vases using an Acrylic paint and a Bicarb of Soda. Have you tried that? Loads of videos in Youtube will show you how amazing their projects turned out to be. It inspired me to recreate my own project, too. I didn’t follow any specific measurement on how much powder I need to mix with the paint. It’s like a trial and error for me. As long as I think I got the right consistency of the mixture I wanted then that was it.

The wood carving details on this vase is so intricate which initially caught my eyes in the shop. It’s a vase but I wanted it to be a candle holder instead. Will that be possible? We’ll see then.😂

I now got a farmhouse vibe candle holder. I bought the bamboo plate from Bristish Red Cross Charity shop for only 2.99 GBP. The faux flowers were both only for a one pound each and the scented candle was from Wilko for around 2.00 GBP. I love Whites.

The previous brown ceramic vase is now converted into a green one with so much texture on it compared to it’s original appearance.

That vintage looking bronze colored tin vase is now a pretty white faux ceramic vase blending to the home decor motif I’m setting for my house. My Akyn decorated the flowers for me.

My second batch of finds were both made of glass and they were originally from Ikea when I checked the label. Only got them both for 50p from the Charity shop. What a steal! I like painting in glass more compared to the other types of vases as I find it easier to get my desired look with only two coates of paint needed. It took me several coates to paint the wood and the tin vases.

The finish output for my glass vases

Third batch of 50p for three items shopping saga continues. I would always look for those with unsual shapes because once you’ve painted it, usually it look so much nice and it also adds more interests to your house decorations.

And my pretty output

I call these three as my cute onions. It was Akyn’s idea to elevate them using our thrifted cork coasters.

My fourth batch of thrifted decors are these vase which was originally yellowgreen in color and the glass candle holders. I defintely need to change the yellowgreen shade when I saw it but I loved the shape of it so I took with me.

I haven’t painted these two candle holders yet. I’m still thinking if I need to retain their glass look. Will buy some candles for them later instead.

We will be heading today to find some nice items again with my Akyn after his class to our favorite thrift stores. We are both obsessed in creating a new life to what others may think as a trash to them but a newly found treasure for us. Happy thrifting.
