Where To Stay In Dumaguete

Dumaguete is known as the City of the Gentle People and I will attest to the fact that it is indeed the land of kind hearted individuals based in my experience during our trip. When we first arrived to the place, we didn’t book for any accommodation and opted to look for one, once we would reach the city. We were lucky enough to meet Manong Lino, a tricycle driver who patiently looked for a place for us to stay. We went to 4 different hotels and pension houses but all of them were full. Luckily, we found the Gazebo Pension House with one available family room enough to accommodate the 5 of us.

Lesson learned: Booked your hotel accommodation before going on a trip. I was too confident that there would plenty of hotels to choose from not realizing that Dumaguete is a place full of foreigners and travelers like us. Phew!

Anyway, I’ll just share to you the details about Gazebo Pension House instead. For one night of stay cost Php 1400.00 ($28.00). We added Php 700.00 ($14.00) for additional half day of stay. It was quite a catch right for a family room with two beds spacious enough to accommodate the five of us to rest. I’ll share to you some of the photos that I took inside it.

Expect to burn your calories if your room is located on the 3rd floor of the building for they do not have any lift service. You have no choice but to use the stairs. If you can just imagine my struggles in carrying my toddler from the ground floor all the way up to our 3rd floor room assigned.

One thing that I love about this place, is that they provide free distilled water in every floor. I didn’t spend any money for water consumption for our entire trip. It helped me allocate my budget to our food and souvenir shopping instead.

The three of us taking a photo before entering our room. From left to right, my son with no visible signs of smile lines, my husband with closed mouth smile and me with teeth showing all out smile.♥

Welcome to the red door and I’ll show you more on what’s inside it.

One queen sized bed and a double deck bed is our comfortable sleeping cradle for our trip.

Look who’s excited to turn on the TV. He was fast enough to take the possession of the remote controls.

There’s a mini fridge which was very useful in preserving our PASALUBONG (food delicacies) that I bought from Dumaguete.

If you need any assistance from the front desk, there’s also an available phone inside the room. My son called the front desk to order for milk, I guess.☺

There was a hot and cold water regulator in their shower which made it easier for me to convince my toddler to take a bath.  The toilet was not that spacious but it’s fine with me as long as it’s clean.
