Reminiscing Our Big Day Preparation Journey

I would consider myself young for marrying at the age of 26 for a career woman like me. My friends were asking me if I was pregnant and speculating if that was the reason why I decided to tie a knot with Mon. Of course not! Mon and I were certain we were both destined to be together and there was no point of delaying the date of being an official Mr. and Mrs. Abilar. When we started planning to get married, we started from scratch. We didn’t have any joint savings bank account nor both of us were born rich. We... Read More

Dress to Impress

I have learned from my office mate about a promotion offered to home mortgaged owners on how to avail for lower interest rate per year for the housing loan, especially for those who have been paying for the loan for 3 years and up. Upon learning about it, I promptly visited the agency to inquire more about the requirements. One of the requirements needed was a written copy of my monthly contributions which were deducted automatically from my pay slip. I was instructed to get it from another person in charge which was located on the 3rd floor of their building.... Read More

My Little Bundle of Joy

My One and a Half men (my husband and my son) have this routinely bonding both of them enjoy everyday. My boys had developed their body clock to remind them about their daily activities, which I find it quite amazing. Akyn usually wakes up early around 5:00 am to 5:30 am. While waiting for his father to wake up, Akyn will just lie in bed making funny little noises to let everyone know he is awake. Once he can see his Dad changing his clothes and getting ready for their morning walk, Akyn will make himself ready too by standing... Read More

Caring Becomes Innate

I was about to fall into a light slumber last night, when suddenly I felt an irritating itching sensation in my throat. I kept on coughing to clear the mucus in my throat. I was tossing and turning in bed and was too lazy and sleepy to go downstairs to get a glass of water. A few moments, I heard footsteps going up the stairs and then the door opened. When I opened my eyes, I saw Mon holding a pitcher of water for me. Caring becomes innate between the two of us. A simple gesture done by Mon in getting a pitcher of water for... Read More

My Sweet Valentino

A week before Valentine’s Day, I told Mon I filed for a vacation leave for February 14. I didn’t feel like going to work during Valentine’s day not because I will be going on a date, but because I didn’t like to get caught in a traffic jam. He laughed at me when he knew that I filed for a time off request from work and said, "Are you planning going on a date somewhere with me?” “Those things are just for new lovers,” he added with a smirk on his face. I got irritated with his statement and instead... Read More

Akyn’s 1st Birthday Preparations (December 30,2016)

Akyn's birthday fall on the 30th of December which is celebrated as Rizal's Day here in the Philippines. December is such a busy month with all the Christmas parties and Reunion parties, that means we needed to book our suppliers as early as possible last year. I was the one who chose the birthday theme for Akyn (mother knows best). As you all know from my previous post (Akyn's Christening) that I had shared about how much I am into bears, so this time I opted to have Winnie the Pooh and Friends birthday theme. I'll share with you some... Read More

I am Here to Serve My Husband

If you apply for a credit card, written disclosures are provided to the customers to be informed of the benefits as well as the terms and conditions of the bank in using the card. When Mama knew about our plan to get married, she gave Mon a verbal disclosure about me and said, “Are you sure you want to marry my daughter?" "She doesn’t know any household chores." "She can’t even cook a decent fried egg?” I was expecting Mon to provide a sugar-coated answer but it was a straightforward response I’ve heard. “I’ll teach her,” he said. What a... Read More

Bedtime

Random training are conducted at work to test and develop employees’ skills both in writing and speaking. The training usually last for a week or two. What I love about being part of any training in the office is not just because I would like to learn something, but it will also help me rest my vocal chords in talking for an x number of hours. I was chosen to be part of one of the business refreshers and was giddy with delight about the news. On the first day of training, we were asked to tell something about ourselves.... Read More

Ambiguous Statement

An acquaintance  of mine once said, “Akyn is so handsome." "I wonder where  he got his looks from?” I wasn’t really sure on how should I respond to her question. Should I be happy someone had appreciated the physical looks of my son, or should I get offended for questioning the quality of my genes? Instead of getting defensive for hurting my ego, I politely said, “Thank you,” and smiled. I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps her intention was just to express admiration. The problem could be because of her choice of words. Her compliment is an ambiguous statement and it solely... Read More

Welcome to the Christian World Baby Akyn (04-30-2016)

Our original plan for Akyn’s baptism was supposedly April 9, 2016 but because I had chicken pox it was moved to April 30, 2016. Akyn had chicken pox when he was  still 2 months old. The Varicella virus was transmitted to me since I was the primary care giver who had not experienced it. I was worried about my guests’ and suppliers’ schedules for the christening if I would move the date. A close friend of mine said, that I should be concerned more about my health and my presence to my son’s  Christening. She  advised me to move  the  planned... Read More

Marrying an Ex-Seminarian

When our priest who interviewed us before getting married knew that Mon was an ex-seminarian, I couldn’t forget his question asking me,"So you were the reason why Mon left the seminary huh?” I answered, “NO, he already left the seminary when I met him. I do often get this remark from my friends when they knew Mon is an Ex-seminarian. Just to give you a brief background, Mon left the seminary after finishing his Philosophy degree and opted to pursue a degree for Computer Engineering. He had his own reasons for leaving. Our priest then said to me, I was lucky enough... Read More

His Timetable, Not Mine

I must admit it to myself, that sometimes I get to compare my son's development with my friends' kids. I tend to get upset and worried if Akyn couldn't deliver the skills that other kids can. I reviewed my lessons in Pediatric Nursing about a child's milestones and development, that was when I came back to my senses. My son is perfectly normal. He has his own  learning pace designed uniquely different from others. I don't need to compare him with the other kids. My role as his mother is to support his learning process. I have learned to embrace... Read More

Memories of Sweden

It was a dream come true when my husband was hired and became part of the first few employees, who were sent to Sweden to undergo training. Free visa processing, free airfare ticket, free accommodation plus an allowance for their meal, were the perks of the said training. Who could have thought that he would be able to visit one of the most dreamed countries in the world. His newly found friends. [gallery ids="349,350,351" type="square"] They were able to experience both   winter and autumn season in Sweden. [gallery ids="361,364,365,362,363" type="slideshow"] [gallery ids="366,367,368,369,370,371" type="slideshow"] I wonder how their food would... Read More

The Power of Positive Thinking

When I was about to take my National Board Exam for Nurses, my professor shared to us about the power of positive thinking. According to him, if you keep on thinking of something that you really wanted to achieve, there is a great chance that you will have it in the long run.  He taught us the formula for achieving one’s goal, which includes  positive thinking plus the right attitude. Right attitude means you also need to work hard to earn it. Setting a goal  without hard work isn’t a goal at all, but a WISH. I applied that formula in... Read More

Honeymoon-Disneyland Hong Kong

We spent our 3rd day honeymoon adventure in Hong Kong Disneyland. It was a great experience  to feel young again seeing all those Disney characters  and Disney themed parks. Our entrance ticket. Honeymoon –Ocean Park Hong Kong

My first flying experience was memorable, not just because of the excitement and the feeling of being connected to the skies, but because It was our first travel abroad by plane with my husband for our honeymoon. Hong Kong, A City that never sleeps was our destination. Our departure time was 5:00 am from Cebu Mactan Airport. It would only take 20 minutes ride from our house to the airport, but I was already awake, alive and kicking as early as 3:00 am. I wasn’t too excited right? This is the First picture we had. Two rings to rule them... Read More
